Executive Director & Founder
Erika Moya
Erika Moya is the heart behind Performers of the Mesilla Valley. A lifelong dancer, storyteller, and educator, she has spent over two decades serving youth through arts, education, and community programs. Erika holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education with a minor in History from New Mexico State University.
Her passion for culture and performance began at a young age, leading her to participate in productions such as Viva El Paso and later create original shows blending dance and storytelling. Beyond the stage, Erika has worked as an educator, realtor, youth sports coach, and nonprofit leader. She founded Performers of the Mesilla Valley in 2019 to give children in Las Cruces a safe and affordable place to connect with their heritage, build confidence, and discover their voice.
As Executive Director, Erika guides the organization’s vision, leads grant and fundraising efforts, and teaches folklórico to over 70 students. She believes that through the arts, young people learn not only steps and rhythm, but resilience, leadership, and pride in who they are.

Summer Moya
Summer Moya is a high school student enrolled in the dual enrollment program at New Mexico State University, where she maintains a 4.0 GPA while pursuing her passion for the arts and leadership. Trained in ballet (including pointe), modern dance, jazz, and folklórico, she has performed in numerous productions and recently begun choreographing original works to inspire younger generations.
A black belt in taekwondo, Summer teaches martial arts to children while also leading an afterschool cheer program at a local elementary school, coaching more than 30 students each week. She is committed to mentoring youth through both the arts and athletics, instilling confidence, teamwork, and discipline.
Summer plans to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at NMSU before continuing on to study law at the University of New Mexico. Her academic drive, artistic excellence, and dedication to service make her a role model and a true reflection of the mission of Performers of the Mesilla Valley.

Instructor
Maryanna
Maryanna is a folklórico instructor whose dance journey began at the age of three. With years of training and performance experience, they specializes in the rich regional styles of Mexican folklórico and has trained under respected maestros and participated in numerous workshops across the Southwest and Mexico, continually refining technique and deepening cultural knowledge.
As a performer and choreographer , Maryanna has taken the stage at community festivals, cultural showcases, and professional productions, captivating audiences with artistry, precision, and a deep respect for tradition.
Passionate about preserving and sharing culture, Maryanna continues to mentor new generations of dancers, encouraging them to embrace folklórico as both an art form and a living expression of heritage.

President
Iriana Nunez
Iriana Nuñez is a dedicated mother of two and the proud owner of her own business. She became involved with the organization during its early developmental stages, drawn to its mission and the positive impact it brings to the community. Iriana values the sense of culture, connection, and growth that the group provides for children and families. Her leadership reflects her passion for service, her entrepreneurial spirit, and her commitment to building strong community programs that empower future generations.

Treasurer
Erika Silvestre
Erika Silvestre is a devoted mother of three and a proud graduate with a degree in Accounting. Her two oldest children currently attend New Mexico State University, while her youngest has been involved in soccer as an 8th grader. Erika brings both her professional expertise and her personal dedication to her role as Treasurer, ensuring the organization’s finances remain strong and transparent. Outside of her work with the board, Erika is actively involved in serving her church and supporting her children’s growth and education. Her commitment to faith, family, and community service shines through in all that she does.

Secretary
Adelina Barela
Adelina Barela was born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where she and her husband of more than 23 years are raising their three daughters. A dedicated mother, Adelina finds joy in supporting her children’s activities and celebrating family time. Her daughter AngelaJoe has been part of the folklórico program for two years, and together the family enjoys participating in cultural performances. Adelina also serves as Secretary for the Organ Mountain Silverettes and Girl Scouts Troop 51704. Beyond her community work, she is a dog lover with four pups at home and enjoys baking, cooking, arts and crafts, and sharing her talent for nails with family and friends. Her love for family and community is reflected in her commitment to the organization and the arts.
